Mission and Guiding Principles Statement

 of the

Indiana Conservative Republican Caucus

W

e believe, as did the founders of this country, in the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and property, and that these rights are natural rights, held inherently, and are neither granted nor revoked by any government. Our system of government, designed by the Founders and detailed in our Constitutions, must be adhered to if we are to retain these individual rights and the very principles upon which our country is founded. We believe that freedom is an indivisible whole, deriving from economic liberty, civil liberty, privacy rights, and property rights, all of which are historic rights that our civilization has cherished from time immemorial.

To that end, the Indiana Conservative Republican Caucus espouses the following:

1)                  That all governments derive their just power from the consent of the governed, and their sole purpose is to defend the rights of life, of liberty, and of property of every individual citizen from those that would infringe upon those rights.

2)                  That it is the ultimate duty of each branch of government, at all levels, to ensure that the other branches do not infringe upon the rights of the individual citizen.

3)                  That the Constitutions of the United States of America and the State of Indiana are documents that limit the powers of both governments and must be adhered to in the strictest sense, and that proposed deviation from their tenants can only be made by the means of amendment as detailed within the document.

4)                  That those powers not explicitly granted to the Federal Government in the United States Constitution are held solely and independently by the states and the people.

5)                  That those powers not explicitly conferred to the State in the  Constitution of the State of Indiana are held, irrevocably and unequivocally, by the people.

6)                  That the State of Indiana is a sovereign state within the Republic of the United States of America. The only jurisdictions the Federal Government has within the State are those explicitly set forth in the United Sates Constitution. The rights of the State must be defended from all Federal or international incursion.

7)                  That the free market is the most just and humane economic system and the greatest engine of prosperity the world has ever known; that government must remain neutral in all economic affairs so as not to interfere with the activities of the free market, and to this end that the government should show no favoritism to any country, government, corporation, partnership, or individual.

T

herefore, it is the purpose of the Indiana Conservative Republican Caucus to do the following:

1)     To support those candidates for public office who adhere to these precepts.

2)     To encourage our members to become involved in the Republican party at the local, county, and state level, such that they may influence the platform and politics of the party to embrace these precepts.

3)     To provide information and education to the people of Indiana as it pertains to learning and understanding these principles.

4)     To encourage and support those citizens and politicians who rise to defend these principles; to participate in such defense wherever possible.

5)     To require our party and our government to ensure strict Constitutional adherence, uncompromising defense of personal liberty, and a steadfast protection of free markets.

6)     To inform our members and the citizens of our state whenever a breech or potential breech of our individual rights or Constitutional government is found, and to take action to reverse such breeches.

S

o stated, it is the duty of every member of the Indiana Conservative Republican Caucus to promote these principles and to take these actions in the defense of the inalienable rights of the citizens of the State of Indiana.
